Good one, you're doing a great job on details, and they make all the difference...

I think you need to work on materials (textures) and fabrics.
Fabrics (curtain or bedsheet) lacks the flow of fabric.
I did not like the window.
Lighting is okay.

Very full of details and objects. How much time you spent to model that?
I have something to say about picture format, you saved that .gif...wich give all that "grainy" feel wich is not the best result for a high resolution image. I'm sure that if you save that .jpg this will be really a lot sharper.
For the rest seems all ok i would have added some bevel to the bedside tables cause that way they would catch more highlights and they seems lees "blocky". Textures are awesome, the bed sheet seem a little stiff but ok. I'm a little confused on the light though, cause it's evening ...and the sky is orange, but the light color and intensity from the window does'nt match that ... it seems morning... anyway it's almost always better to add sky in compositing and not on the rendering ( i cannot tell this for the grainy i've told before so sorry if you already did that)
Maybe it's a little 'girlish' for me
10/09/05 @760
and as for the textures, i'll be sure to add it into my next renders. Thnx guys for all your crits and comments so far. im taking serious notes down here to improve my next renders.

PS.I've replyed to your comment if you're interested, thank you

im dont know much about 3D but i feel u should work more on texture/material. or maybe u wanted this kinda plastic feel. that bedsheet looks too odd to me..it has feel of paper rather than cloth. pls correct me if im wrong. what can i say more than this....keep up the spirit
I like the colour scheme

Mirror looks weird, maybe you should make it taller. But I have one dresser like that anyway...

I must say that iam pretty shocked that you´ve got 220 points for this image. People like Cheng Feng can barely scrape 100 points togehter, and iam sorry to say but his pictures are on another level. I think thats the big problem with this community, great artist dont always get the credit that they are supposed to be getting.
Dont take this as an insult, your picture is fine but still needs alot of work. Light, modelling, scale size, textures and the render all could use some more work.
Cheers...

i love the pillows the best... i wish it could be somehow animated. The only thing that is bothering me is the sky outside... it doesnt seem to match the light entering the room... i'm digging it though.. groovilicious baby...

1) The outside "outside weather" doesn’t match the inside lighting. I see that you are using Mental Ray in Maya there is an option in the Render Globals (render settings) called "Image Based Lighting” to get to that option go to Render in: Mental Ray > click the mental ray tab > then it is about the 12th "arrow" down on the list > click the "create" button. Once the Attribute editor opens you can assign the "outside weather" picture to the "image name" option. Then tweak the rest of the setting until you reach your desired effect.
2) The picture quality is to grainy to really critique or comment on anything else. If you are using Photoshop try using the "Save For Web..." feature under the File menu. You should be able to use a .png or .jpg file with a low file size and a high picture quality.
Other than those two comments It think it a nice scene. Nice modeling job too. Did you use NURBs or Polys?
Oh yeah one more thing. I don't know if you were wanted those pictures to be framed in glass or not, but if you were you cold use a Phong or PhongE material and tweak the reflectivity property to give it a fake glass look
Well I hope this incredibly long post helps out some.

And so, I know Skye will not be able to read this, but I think it's a shame to let it all stop here. I leave my comment, as I had not seen this pic before now. Good work.
